Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for creating complex models, layouts, drawings, and sketches using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Design

  • Model and design projects using SolidWorks (sheet metal focused)
  • Taking a sketched concept and designing a 3D model using SolidWorks
  • Designing layouts using AutoCAD
  • Make customer approval prints
  • Verify load calculation
  • Work with project managers on designs and estimate time to design and detail project.
  • Communicate with customers
  • Field verifies dimensions using a tape measure, calipers, lasers, etc.
  • Travel to job sites if needed.
  • Improve existing customer equipment designs
  • Communicate with suppliers on designs, models, availabilities of items
  • Update and/or create design tables configurable items

Detail

  • Taking customer design and remodeling around Fusion’s production equipment
  • Detail out Fusion designed parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Ensure that the proper K-Factor, bend radius is being used on formed parts
  • Upload parts into ERP system
  • Enter data and build assemblies into the ERP system
  • Revise and update Fusion parts and prints
  • Be a second set of eyes for designers to help catch design flaws

Qualifications:

Two years experience with SolidWorks 3D Modeling and AutoCAD 2D Software. Other qualifications include:

  • Must be able to read and decipher blueprints, schematics, weld symbols, GD&T, and surface finishes
  • Must display excellent mechanical and analytical skills
  • Highly organized
  • Experience in developing a complete accurate bill of materials
  • Must possess clear and concise communications skills both written and orally
  • Proficient use of software programs, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), ERP/MRP system, planning/scheduling tools
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and forming
  • Skills with precision measuring tools
  • Ability to balance high demand & requests from various departments
  • Excellent math skills
  • Good analytical skills in deciphering prints and communicating with customers
  • Presents him or herself professionally in both attire and verbally
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools
  • Ability to adjust to change in schedules with little notice
  • Must listen and follow directions
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team

Working Conditions:

This position will be mostly indoors and in an office environment with periods of computer-intensive work. Occasionally you will need to go into the manufacturing plant. Work-related travel may be required.

Compensation:

Hourly compensation will be determined by experience and qualifications. A benefits package that includes health insurance, PTO, and a simple IRA will be provided.
