5 Benefits of an In-house Design Team

When it comes to developing custom food processing equipment, accessory items, processing line and factory layouts, few manufacturers are equipped to take on the full challenge like Fusion Tech. There’s one key aspect about our company that sets us apart – we have a fully staffed design and drafting team.

Most manufacturers of food processing equipment have the fabrication side down, but lack greatly when it comes to on-staff designers, drafters, and 3D modelers. Fusion Tech is different. We have eight full time staff members dedicated to design and drafting, and that team is continuing to grow. (Are you a SolidWorks designer? We’re hiring!)

What are the benefits of an in-house design team?

Why does having a design and drafting team matter? How does it set us apart? Simple. It’s a huge benefit to our clients. Here are just a few of the benefits of an in-house design team:

Partnering with you from project conception.
Having an in-house design team allows us to partner with you right from the start of your project. No need to hire an outside firm to design your processing line layouts and individual pieces of equipment. We can take on the design of your project and the fabrication of your equipment, giving you one company to contact.

We can start with your napkin sketch ideas.
Do you have an idea of what you want, but not a full-blown plan? Have a processing operation that needs to be done but can’t find the equipment to do it? Not a problem! Our in-house design team can take your “napkin sketch” ideas – those initial thoughts, ideas, and needs – and turn them into 2D prints and 3D models of the equipment to manufacture.

design team modeling

We provide you with 3D models.
Seeing a 2D print of your equipment is good and needed, but often it can be difficult to envision what your processing line will look like, how it will integrate with your current lines and in your plant. That’s where 3D modeling comes in. Our team is equipped to provide you with 3D models of each piece of equipment, as well as your whole processing line and how it will fit inside your plant. You can twist, turn, and rotate the view to see how everything fits together and works.

We save you time and money.
Hiring two (or more!) different companies to handle the design, layout, and fabrication of your equipment is costly, and has the potential to push your project timeline back. Your equipment fabricator can’t start until every design is approved and finalized, and there is often miscommunication between companies when changes occur. An in-house design team allows us to move forward with the various pieces of your processing line right away – and when change occurs, we can easily handle it without miscommunication.

You know we are capable of fabricating what is designed.
You don’t have to worry whether we are capable of fabricating what is designed. Our design team knows the capabilities of our fabrication shop, and won’t present you with something we can’t do. Every design we are fully capable of fabricating to the exacting quality standards Fusion Tech is known for.

These are but just a few reasons why we have an in-house design team – and how that team benefits you. Convenience. Expert Design. 3D Models. From concept to completion, we are able to handle every aspect of your project.
